General duties will include pre and post- operative care for general surgical patients, administration of medication, including controlled drugs, by various routes, recording of physiological observations, wound care, management of complex patients with multiple issues, escalating care when needed, management of pain management systems such as PCA’s and epidurals, as well different methods of delivering nutrition including TPN, NG and NJ feeding.  Documentation is also an essential part of the role, with accurate, legible recording of nursing interventions and completion of electronic nursing risk assessments.  We aim to involve our patients in their care to improve nursing outcomes and ensure the patient’s journey through their time with us is a satisfactory one.  Delivering safe, personal and effective care to our patients must be at the centre of all we do.

We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic nurses to really drive the ward vision.  Experience within this area is desirable but not essential.  You must have excellent communication skills, be punctual, flexible and hard working with a desire to deliver a high standard of nursing care in keeping with the Trust’s vision in delivering safe, personal and effective care at all times.  The ideal candidate will be friendly, empathetic and patient with a keen desire to ensure that the care delivered is of the best quality standard.  This is a rotational post, which includes night and weekend working.
