There has never been a more exciting time to join us. Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (T&G IC) will provide the foundation for one of the first ICOs in England, bringing together a wide range of health and social care services for the benefit of local people. The ICO will manage a person’s entire care in the future, by linking up hospital services with community care and mental health services as well as working closely with GPs.

We expect that, to fully transform these services, will take between three and five years. TAMESIDE GENERAL HOSPITAL

Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician

£16,632 in Year 1; £ 17,820 in Year 2  (fixed term contract Sep 2019- Aug 2021) 

Applications are invited from individuals who wish to train for a BTEC Level 3 Professional Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences and an NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services – Apprenticeship model to qualify as a Registered Pharmacy Technician. You will spend four days a week gaining work experience within the hospital and the remaining day studying the underpinning knowledge at Manchester College commencing September 2019.

You must possess a minimum of 4 GCSE passes at Grades A-C or equivalent including English, Mathematics, and Chemistry (Dual Science Award Accepted) plus one other science subject.

Students who successfully complete the 2 year course and associated study will be eligible to apply to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Individuals will need to be highly organised and motivated and be capable of meeting multiple deadlines. You must be able to plan your own studies at home and be able to complete both college and NVQ work punctually. The majority of study will be completed in your own time. We are therefore looking for individuals who can guarantee this type of commitment as it is a post suitable only for those dedicated to becoming a pharmacy technician and who are able to put in the necessary hard work consistently over the 2 year contract.

The pharmacy service is provided on 7 days per week and the successful applicant will be expected to work weekends on a planned rotation.

Experience will be gained in all aspects of hospital pharmacy technical services including outpatient and inpatient dispensing, patient counseling, distribution and control of ward medicines stocks; and aseptic dispensing

This is a developmental opportunity for a candidate, who is at pre-graduate level and this post is NOT open to applicants who have a level 4 qualification or above i.e. a degree in ANY subject area.

We would expect applicants to have a clear understanding of the role of a Pharmacy Technician or have previous experience of working in a pharmacy.

You must be able to take up the post by 1st September 2019
