Junior Clinical Fellow - Critical Care

NHS Medical & Dental: Junior Clinical Fellow

At East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust our vision is to be widely recognised for providing safe, personal and effective care.  We currently provide high quality services and treat over 600,000 people across East Lancashire and the surrounding area. We employ over 9,500 staff, many of whom are internationally renowned and have won awards for their work.

Job overview

Applications are invited for the permanent position of Junior Clinical Fellow at East Lancashire Teaching Hospital.  ELHT is a busy teaching hospital with around 1000 beds across all sites.  Services are provided from two main sites, the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and Burnley General Teaching Hospital. Acute services are based at the Blackburn site and include the emergency department, the 32 bedded Critical Care Unit and the acute surgical and medical units. The ED is a trauma unit in the Lancashire Trauma network with Preston as the Trauma Centre.

Main duties of the job

We have a busy 32 bed critical care unit that cares for 1600 patients per year. We take medical and surgical emergency patients and postoperative elective patients requiring a higher level of care. There is excellent opportunity to gain experience in caring for critically ill patients and the practical techniques pertinent to this.

Whilst a non-training grade you would be considered as a trainee with appropriate teaching and educational support, supervision is available at all times from senior trainees and Consultants. You would be part of the ICU B rota which is on a 1A band. You will be expected to take part in formal handover, audit/ QI and lunchtime trainee presentations.
