Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist in Special Care Dentistry to join Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) Dental Services.
The post is 0.6 WTE/3 days per week which must include Thursdays and Fridays + 1 other day. Current pay scales are £97,768 to £112,360 Pro Rata commensurate with experience and previous posts held.
Main duties of the job
You will be based in East Lancashire sites including Royal Blackburn Hospital providing special care dentistry to those referred to LSCft Special Care Dental Services, supporting the Service to achieve its KPIs, providing conscious sedation, leading on the provision of comprehensive dental care under GA, assisting in the clinical triage of referrals, providing support and clinical supervision for the clinic based Dental Officers, Senior Dental Officers and Dental Therapists.
You MUST hold a post registration qualification in Special Care Dentistry, full GDC registration and be on the GDC Specialist list (or within 6 months of CCST) without restriction, and be on, or be eligible for immediate inclusion on the Performers List for England.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BDS or equivalent qualification
- Relevant post graduate qualification in Special Care Dentistry
- Dental indemnity insurance
- Included on Performers List of England without restrictions
- Full GDC registration without restriction
- On the Specialist Register of the General Dental Council
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience of leading and providing dental treatment under sedation and general anaesthesia
- Clinical leadership experience in dentistry
- Knowledge of NHS PDS Regulations
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of continual professional development both general and role specific
- Experience of providing special care dentistry and conscious sedation within a primary care setting.
- Experience of providing special care dentistry within a secondary care setting.
- Evidence of providing domiciliary care in a variety of outreach settings
