As an integrated Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) delivers a comprehensive range of services, including:
- Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
- Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
- Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management.
The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. The organisation offers opportunities for medics, mental health, general nurses, children’s nurses, allied health professionals, psychology, administration and clerical staff, apprentices and volunteers, as well as those specialising in learning disabilities and community physical health services.

Job overview
Are you an enthusiastic and motivated therapist with extensive experience of managing a diverse caseload of children with speech, language and communication needs in clinic and school settings?
If you are, we have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and registered Speech and Language Therapist to join the forward thinking and friendly Blackburn with Darwen Children’s Therapy Service.
We are one of 6 Children’s Therapy teams working across Lancashire and are committed to improving the communication skills of children and young people while supporting carers and other professionals to increase their ability to understand and support children with communication needs.
Main duties of the job
We work closely with families and with colleagues in health, education and social care and you will have excellent communication skills to support these relationships.
You will manage your own time and caseload effectively and also support assistant practitioners in managing a delegated caseload.
We are committed to promoting professional development in all staff and you will be enthusiastic about developing your leadership skills in service innovation and supervision of junior therapists and assistants.
You will demonstrate a proactive approach to your own clinical and professional development and will have a sound understanding of evidence based practice.
You will have good presentation skills and enjoy sharing your skills through training and coaching.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Professional Degree or equivalent in Speech & Language Therapy
- Current Professional Registration with HCPC
- Evidence of continued professional development
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Understanding of clinical governance framework & implications for practice, including audit and research governance
- Knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools for children with diverse needs
- Knowledge of a range of therapy techniques and programmes for children with diverse needs/ related to client group
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of recent and relevant post graduate experience encompassing the specialist field of practice. that demonstrates an in depth knowledge of specialist area
- Multi-disciplinary/multi-agency collaborative working
- Experience of working with children with complex needs and their families in community/non clinical setting

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
