Clinical Audit & Effectiveness Facilitator

NHS AfC: Band 4

At East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust our vision is to be widely recognised for providing safe, personal and effective care.  We currently provide high quality services and treat over 600,000 people across East Lancashire and the surrounding area. We employ over 9,500 staff, many of whom are internationally renowned and have won awards for their work.

Job overview

Clinical Audit is central to our commitment to improving services and enhancing organisational effectiveness. The Clinical Audit & Effectiveness Team plays a vital role in ensuring that we deliver the highest standards of care by supporting clinical teams to measure practice against national and local standards, as outlined in the Trust’s Forward Measurement Programme. The team oversees the Trust’s NICE Guidance and Quality Standards distribution and reporting processes and manages participation in NCEPOD studies, providing essential assurance functions within the wider Quality and Safety framework.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our busy Clinical Audit & Effectiveness Team and support the delivery of the Trust’s Clinical Effectiveness Strategy. You will be responsible for your own directorates and workstreams, working within an established structure to develop and deliver clinical effectiveness processes. This will involve close collaboration with clinicians and managers at all levels. The role includes developing and using measurement tools and systems to provide assurance that local and national standards are being met, ensuring lessons learned are captured and shared, and identifying areas for improvement to support high‑quality service delivery.

Working for our organisation

Our organisation is driven by clear strategic objectives and strong values, and we seek individuals who are aligned with both. In support of ELHT’s People Strategy, we recognise the value our staff bring to the Trust and the important link between an engaged workforce and high‑quality patient care.

Within the Clinical Audit & Effectiveness Team, we promote collaborative working and a culture founded on open communication, mutual trust and shared commitment. We pride ourselves on delivering a proactive, high‑quality service that supports the wider organisation to provide safe, personal and effective care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will have effective communication skills, strong organisational abilities, and confident working knowledge of Microsoft Office - particularly Excel. You will be able to plan, collect, input and analyse clinical data to produce high‑quality reports and presentations for Clinical Effectiveness meetings and other forums.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a positive attitude, capable of working independently while also supporting team colleagues to achieve collective goals. You should be confident in presenting information, understanding detailed procedures, and demonstrating processes to others where required.
