Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, with services covering the local authority areas of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. The Trust is part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS) supporting a population of around 1.6 million people.
We have three main hospitals providing acute services to around 330,000 local residents. The organisation also provides specialist tertiary care for cardiac and haematology services, delivers community health services to over 445,000 residents including those in North Lancashire and hosts the National Artificial Eye Service across England. Job overview
Your role will be to support the development and growth of internal and external communications for Blue Skies, by promoting the charity’s aims, priorities and key messages. You will lead and direct the Communications and Marketing Strategy and support the fundraising team in all its activities with a view to extend and improve our fundraising, working to the strategy set by the Head of Charity.
You need to be proactive, passionate about the charity, portray the charity in a positive light and be a good ‘storyteller’ to project the impact of the charity.
Main duties of the job
Communications and marketing
· To act as the lead on all matters relating to communications, marketing and PR.
· To communicate with supporters, businesses and the general public to provide advice and information via a variety of methods, including email, face to face and telephone contact.
· Promote charitable funding opportunities to staff, to include support available from Blue Skies Hospitals Fund, and any other relevant charity partnerships. Ensure the impact of charitable donations is promoted widely internally and externally.
· Ability to use computer knowledge to produce materials with all forms of media including digital and online publications, social media, fundraising literature, writing copy, sourcing articles and preparing mailing data.
· Support the whole fundraising team with the production of marketing materials and ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.
· Manage and update the Charity’s website
· Producing advertising/press release material for print in newspapers, magazines and a variety of local publications.
· Maintain and update our website to ensure it is always up to date with latest news and fundraising events.

- Good general education to GCSE or equivalent level

Experience & Knowledge

- Well-developed ability to organise and prioritise workloads and projects
- Experience of developing media messages and producing press releases
- Experience of Mail Chimp or similar service
- Good understanding of the media/social media and its requirement
- Able to work effectively on own initiative
- Ability to motivate people and generate enthusiasm
- Ability to travel in the local community
Desirable criteria
- Fundraising experience
- Basic understanding of charity law and fundraising legislation
- Knowledge of working in the charity sector

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
