Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, forward thinking midwife to join our midwifery management team as Delivery Suite Manager. This person will lead and manage the team who work on the delivery suite, the birth centre and maternity theatres.

We are looking for a highly motivated, compassionate ward manager with expert knowledge and clinical skills. 

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, financial stability and promote staff and family engagement.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have responsibility for the effective and efficient operational day to day management of the delivery suite, birth centre and maternity theatres, including budget control, clinical governance, and staff development. The post holder will demonstrate enhanced knowledge and clinical skills and be a role model, providing leadership and promoting multidisciplinary teamwork in the clinical area.

The post holder will also work in a supervisory capacity and be expected to lead and manage team performance. They will monitor and contribute to the standards of care delivered, thus enhancing the family experience, and improving patient outcomes.

OPERATIONAL

 Management/Leadership responsibility

  • Collaborates closely with the Matron and Head of Midwifery regarding all quality performance and management issues
  • Deputises for the Matron if required
  • Facilitates and maintains effective communication within the multidisciplinary team and works in partnership with other service providers, leading to efficient care pathways for the woman and her baby.
  • In the absence of the matron, to initiate and lead staff meetings, ensuring that the maternity are kept informed and involved in unit developments and Trust decision
