Job overview
Due to career progression an opportunity has risen for a pharmacist with an interest in antimicrobial stewardship to join the antimicrobial stewardship team.
We are looking for an individual with motivation and enthusiasm to deliver the antimicrobial stewardship agenda and in conjunction with the Lead Antimicrobial Pharmacist. You will work closely with the Lead Antimicrobial Pharmacist to support antimicrobials management across the Trust. You will develop skills within a specialist antimicrobial role whilst building upon proven clinical skills.
It is ideal for a pharmacist who is looking to gain experience working at a senior level.
Main duties of the job
The role will require you to apply your knowledge, skills and experience to improve patient care through effective use of antimicrobial agents and other control of infection interventions.
You will work closely with the Consultant Microbiologists and Control of Infection team to promote clinical and cost-effective prescribing through evidence- based guidelines.
You will be supporting the Lead Antimicrobial Pharmacist with the development and implementation of antimicrobial audits or other antimicrobial stewardship focused projects.
There will be opportunities to work with other specialist team such as Community Intravenous Therapy team and support other multidisciplinary work relating to antimicrobials use.
You will also work within an identified specialist area providing clinical pharmacy services and other pharmacist duties as required by the department.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy
- 12 months pre-registration training and experience
- Registered with the GPhC
- Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- NMP qualification
- Membership of The Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience within hospital pharmacy.
- Experience in clinical pharmacy with knowledge of the therapeutics of common disease states.
- Understanding of issues affecting the NHS and hospital pharmacy.
Desirable criteria
- Antimicrobial stewardship experience
