Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, with services covering the local authority areas of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. We have three main hospitals providing acute services to around 330,000 local residents. The organisation also provides specialist tertiary care for cardiac and haematology services, delivers community health services to over 445,000 residents including those in North Lancashire and hosts the National Artificial Eye Service across England. Job overview
The successful applicant is expected to obtain high volume surgical and clinical experience from this post. At the same time the post holder will have dedicated research time that will allow carrying out and participating in high quality research, with the aim of peer-reviewed publications and national/international presentations. The Post holder will be supported for presenting their research findings (study leave, travel expenses).
The Department has 10 Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons all of whom perform a variety of Elective and Trauma work. In addition to the advertised post, other grades include 3 Associate Specialists, 10 Staff Grades, 11 STs and 4 FY1’s.
Main duties of the job
a) Attendance at Theatre sessions.
b) Attendance at out-patient clinics.
c) Research
d) Provision of in-patient care for Consultant’s patients.
e) Supporting on-call rota
e) Other duties as directed by the Clinical Director for the care of Trauma & Orthopaedics
