CESR Fellow in Urology
NHS Medical & Dental: Specialty Registrar
Job overview
Trusts across Greater Manchester and Lancashire have come together to create an innovative Regional CESR Training Programme for Urology which will support Urology Middle Grade Doctors in rotating across a number of Trusts to gain the exposure to the breadth of core Urological skills (and a Special Interest Module) as well as the opportunity to acquire the experience necessary to apply for a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) in Urology, in line with the 2021 Urology Curriculum. This programme will be hosted by Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, with rotations across Royal Bolton Hospital, Royal Preston Hospital, Manchester Royal Infirmary and the University Hospital of South Manchester (Wythenshawe). Trusts planning to join in the near future include the Northern Care Alliance (Salford Royal Hospital), Stockport NHS Foundation Trust (Stepping Hill Hospital), and Wigan, Wrightington and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust (Royal Albert Edward Infirmary).
Main duties of the job
Depending on your current level of experience, your length of training in programme would be for a 2-year period for Phase 3 equivalent appointees (i.e. you are an already well experienced, post-exam, Doctor needing support with the other criteria for CESR), and 3-5 years for Phase 2 (post-CST or equivalent, pre-exam) equivalent appointees with an annual rotational timetable built in at all levels.
Working for our organisation
Specifically developed and designed by Urology Consultants with the aim of ensuring we provide our CESR Fellows with the best possible support, training and development, this programme is an excellent option for Urology Middle Grades pursuing a career as a Consultant Urologist outside of the national training programme pathway. We want to ensure that you get the best experience and will support you in every step of the programme to help you gain all the exposure necessary to acquire your CESR, with a view to you joining our regional Trusts as a Consultant.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Contracts for our CESR Fellows closely mirror national training contracts and terms and conditions. Pay is pitched at Phase 2 (MT04; currently £65,048 pa for a 40 hours per week contract), Phase 3 (MT05; currently £73,992 pa for a 40 hours per week contract) equivalent salary levels.
Full details of the programme can be found on the attached document including the terms and conditions of service for this innovative new programme. If you would like to find out more please contact the Programme Lead, Neil Harvey whose details are below.
