To carry out a wide range of administrative, clerical  and computer centered duties and provide support to the medical secretaries in a busy ophthalmology department. 

Main duties of the job

  1.       Transcription and production from Electronic Digital Dictation system of clinic letters/ reports ete
  2.       Retrieve and track case notes from Medical Records department via e-mail, telephone
  3.      Be fully conversant with the use of office machinery, eg photocopier/scan, email and Microsoft office, Word, Excel and Outlook packages
  4.     Respond to telephone and e-mail enquiries, contact with members of the public and staff of all disciplines, with tact, selectivity, and confidentiality at all times
  5.            Support new starters during their training period
  6.         As requested, attend inter-departmental meetings to discuss any changes in working practice
  7.        participate in the collective aims of the department and to continually improve the level of service with our aims and objectives
  8.        attend all mandatory Trust training Sessions and sessions relevant to the job role
  9.        Provide flexibility in terms of hours worked in accordance with the needs of the service

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English Grade 4 or above
  • Good Keyboard Skiills
Desirable criteria
  • RSA/OCR Audio typing or equivalent

Job Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous administrative experience
  • Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook etc
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of Cerner Millenium EPR

  • Ability to prioritise own workload and work to deadlines
