Job overview

The post holder will work as a member of the Endoscopy service reception team and provide a professional  and courteous “front of house” service for all staff and visitors attending the Endoscopy Units at both Royal Preston and Chorley Hospital acting in a professional and courteous manner at all times.

The post holder will respond to requests for information promptly and efficiently using a variety of communication methods, ensuring that Trust Customer Service standards are adhered to. On occasions the postholder will be required to provide administrative support to the Endoscopy scheduling team based at Preston Business Centre

Main duties of the job

Perform an ambassadorial role, representing the Endoscopy Department “Front of House” service acting in a professional, courteous and customer focused manner at all times

Answer telephone queries, take messages, direct where appropriate, meet and greet and provide assistance directing visitors to the Department to appropriate locations.

Endoscopy services are provided at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals (LTH) NHS Foundation Trust at two organisational sites namely Chorley District Hospital (CDH) and Royal Preston Hospital (RPH).  This role works within the endoscopy administration team  and closely with our clinical teams which are friendly , hardworking and well led teams.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Perform an ambassadorial role, representing the Endoscopy Department “Front of House” service acting in a professional, courteous and customer focused manner.

Answer telephone queries, take messages, direct where appropriate, meet and greet and provide assistance directing visitors to the department to appropriate locations

Use initiative to resolve conflicts in a mutually agreeable way, alerting manager where necessary 

Ensure that up to date information is available regarding activity within all departments so that queries can be answered promptly and 
accurately

Communicates with a range of staff, users and visitors to the Trust / Department utilizing a variety of communication methods including 
verbal, electronic and passing information in a format that is appropriate to the individual request

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • English and Maths GCSE or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of working as part of a team and using initiative
  • Experience of working in a changing environment
  • Aware of the concept and application of confidentiality
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in a health care or related setting
  • Previous experience of working with the public
