Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a social worker or professional with appropriate experience to work in close partnership with the researchers, in the delivery of an NIHR funded trial Empowered Together (co-ordinated social care in prison).

Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is a large health and wellbeing Trust employing over 7000 staff and serving a population across the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System. The Trust provides inpatient and community specialist Mental Health services to children and young people, adults and older adults and also delivers forensic mental health services.  Additionally, the Trust provides a range of physical health care community services and children’s services.

The Trust delivers a wide portfolio of high quality research including this important study. This is a great opportunity to have a key role in a new NIHR funded research trial led by Chief Investigators Dr Louise Robinson (LSCft) and Dr Katrina Forsyth and (University of Manchester) to explore the unmet social care needs of men in prison.  Ryan Cowley-Sharp and Katy Cleece (LSCft) will provide supervision to the coordinator.

The post holder will take the role of an Empowered Together (ET) Social Care Coordinator on the research study. They will receive specialist training. 

The post holder will have a crucial role in the planning, coordination and delivery of the intervention. This comprises screening for social care needs, assessment and care coordination. They will have excellent communication and presentation skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and attention to detail. Strong organisational skills when faced with challenges are required along with an ability to work to key targets and deadlines. 

You must be either a trained social worker or a professional with social care experience/training. We are looking for an energetic dynamic, self-directed and committed individual with an interest in becoming a key part of our research team and working with us to understand the unmet needs within the prison system.
