  • Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management.

The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Senior Dental Officer to join Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust Dental Services. Rated GOOD by CQC with Outstanding for Caring.

The post is suitable for an experienced practitioner to work 2 days/15 hours per week (Thursday and Friday) based at Ringway Dental Centre, Preston. However, you may be expected to work at other sites within LSCft Dental Services.

Main duties of the job

The post will focus on the provision of urgent care for patients referred to the service by the Lancashire Call Handling Service, with elements of routine care for non-specialist/ priority group patients attending Ringway Dental Centre. 


Please note, this is not a specialist paediatric dentistry service or special care service role. Conscious sedation experience is desirable but is not essential and can be developed within the role if required in future

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Dental nurses are qualified, many have training in extended duties-radiography, sedation, special care, fluoride application.

Mentoring and clinical supervision is available and professional development supported.

We are close to the coast, the beautiful Ribble Valley and only 45 minutes from the Lake District.

  • BDS or equivalent qualification
  • Full GDC registration without restriction

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of continual professional development both general and role specific
  • Evidence of providing both urgent and routine care on a regular basis
  • Evidence of clinical and non-clinical leadership and management skills

Worek related knowledge & skills

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of NHS PDS Regulations
  • Aware of dental/general health issues
  • Good Team Leader and worker
  • Clear and effective communicator
