Job overview
This post offers an exciting opportunity to join the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway in Lancashire as a Specialist Practitioner across both the Core Offender Management (Core-OM) and Intensive Intervention and Risk Management Service (IIRMS). OPD Pathway services are jointly commissioned by NHS England and His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) and are delivered via a joint service model that includes health and HMPPS partners in Lancashire.
Main duties of the job
Within the Core-Om service, the post holder, with Probation partners, will provide a psychologically informed consultation, advice and formulation service to Probation Practitioners. This supports in their management of people on probation who present as high risk of harm as a result of personality difficulties and other complexities. Within the IIRMS, the post-holder will use the consultation process to support identification of people on probation who may be suitable for the service. The post-holder will be involved in the IIRMS assessment, formulation development and intervention planning and delivery, alongside other IIRMS Practitioners and wider Probation staff. The role also requires the post-holder to be actively involved in wider workforce development across Probation teams and within Probation Approved Premises’
The services operate across the Lancashire footprint, so the post holder will be required to travel to various bases across the county and, at times, beyond.

- Psychologist, Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, OR Probation Practitioner
- BSc level of knowledge in working with Personality Disorder (e.g. KUF modules)
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Specialist level of knowledge of assessment, formulation and intervention approaches with clients with PD/MI, their related needs and complex risk presentation.
- Highly developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including highly sensitive and complex clinical and risk information across a range of agencies and services.
- A good understanding of organisational cultures and values and an awareness of how these can impact on service developments.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantial experience working as a practitioner with clients with highly complex clinical and risk presentations.
- Experience of managing or supervising staff/colleagues undertaking work with the client group.
- Experience of contributing to service development and planning within complex multi-agency environments.
