Main duties of the job
Working closely with the Divisional Midwifery & Nursing Director, you will be a visible, credible and inspirational leader, to provide professional, operational and strategic leadership across the division
We are seeking a leader who combines clinical credibility with strong operational expertise and a strategic mindset. You will play a key role in leading high-performing teams, driving service improvement, managing change and ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care for women, babies and families.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across maternity, nursing, allied health professions and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will help turn strategy into meaningful outcomes. You will support the delivery of our Nursing, Midwifery & AHP Strategy, Patient Experience and Involvement Strategy and Maternity & Neonatal Transformation Programme, while driving quality improvement, workforce development, performance and patient experience across the division.

Person specification
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven track record of recent operational management of large diverse teams
- Proven track record of integration of multiple projects across a large organisation
- Excellent project management skills.
- Full understanding of what good governance constitutes and its application to practice.
- Significant recent management experience at Band 8a or above of a midwifery/nursing team or service
- Experience of successfully managing staff engagement and leading change
- Experience of working within a senior management team
- Experience of leading service change
- Proven ability to manage resources effectively
- Evidence of highly developed written and oral communication skills in English in a variety of settings
Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife
- Teaching qualification or equivalent
- Evidence of relevant post graduate clinical education at Masters’ module level or equivalent.
- Member of relevant professional body
- Honours Degree or equivalent
- Leadership qualification/certificate
Desirable criteria
- Master’s Degree
- Registered Nurse (dual qualification)
- Post-graduate leadership programme
- Coaching qualification
