Specialist Paediatric Dietitian

Band 6

Job overview

We’re looking for a Specialist Paediatric  Dietitian to join our Paediatric Dietetics Service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, working across Central Lancashire and South Ribble to provide specialist dietary advice to babies and children  (under  years).

Is this role right for you?

This could be a great fit if you:

·         Are a Band 6 Dietitian (or ready to work at Band 6 level)

·         Enjoy patient-facing work

·         Are confident managing a varied caseload

·         Value teamwork but are happy working independently

·         Want a role that’s meaningful, practical and people-focused

If you’re looking for a paediatric dietetics job where you can really get to know your patients, develop specialist skills, and be part of a supportive local team — we’d love to hear from you.

Interested? Apply now to find out more and have a conversation with us about whether this role is right for you.

Although you will be an autonomous practitioner, you will be required to work closely with the diabetes specialist nurse team, the diabetologists, nutrition team  and other AHP colleagues.

Our Dietetics team is strongly committed to team working, maintaining high standards of care, innovation and continued professional development. We support student training and provide P1, P2 and P3 placements.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and skilled Dietitian to further develop their skills in clinical dietetics.

Main duties of the job

This is a hands-on paediatric dietetics role, where no two days are quite the same. You’ll manage your own varied paediatric caseload, supporting children and their carers who are at risk of malnutrition, require oral nutrition support or are established on home enteral feeding as well as supporting children with Diabetes

Your work will include:

·         Seeing patients in outpatient clinics within the hospital setting and community settings including school clinics

·         Carrying out domiciliary visits in patients’ own homes.

·         Delivering practical, patient-centred dietetic care in real-life settings

·         Working closely with MDT colleagues across  both hospital and community services

Hours and contract

Permanent, full-time role. 37.5 hours per week, worked over 5 days.

Hospital  base: Royal Preston hospital

You’ll need to be confident working independently, organised, and must be able to travel.

Working for our organisation

We’re a small, friendly and motivated paediatric Dietetics team who genuinely support one another. The team sits alongside the large acute dietetics service which comprises a team of experienced Registered Dietitians, Dietetic Support workers and administrative staff.

We work hard and share knowledge.

Development & support

We’re committed to helping you grow. You’ll have:

·         Plenty of opportunities for CPD and training

·         Support from experienced colleagues and team leads

·         Space to develop specialist skills in malnutrition and home enteral feeding

·         The chance to shape how we deliver paediatric dietetic services locally

We invite you to come and join our team for this exciting opportunity!
