Main duties of the job
You’ll be working closely with our Head of PMO, executive leaders, senior clinicians, and operational teams to drive forward major programmes like the Financial Recovery Programme (FRP) and the Single Improvement Plan (SIP). It’s a role that blends strategic thinking, hands-on delivery, and relationship-building — all with the goal of improving care and efficiency across the Trust.
We are looking for someone who’s confident leading complex programmes, great at engaging stakeholders, and passionate about making things better. You’ll need to be organised, analytical, and ready to work at pace — but you’ll also be supported by a brilliant team who are just as committed as you are.
Working for our organisation
Why join us?
Because here, your work will matter. You’ll be part of a team that’s driving real change, improving services for patients, and helping shape the future of healthcare in Lancashire. Plus, you’ll be joining a Trust that values innovation, collaboration, and personal growth.
At Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, we’re committed to helping you grow — both professionally and personally. From tailored development programmes and leadership opportunities to flexible working options and wellbeing support, we make sure you have the tools, time, and encouragement to thrive in your role while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a Senior Programme Manager, you’ll be a driving force behind some of the Trust’s most important transformation programmes. Working closely with Executive Sponsors, Project Leads, and the PMO, you’ll ensure our projects are delivered with precision, purpose, and impact. You’ll lead by example — overseeing project teams, shaping our project management methodology, and stepping in for the Head of PMO when needed.
You’ll bring clarity, structure, and energy to complex change initiatives, ensuring documentation is top-notch, risks are managed, and progress is clearly reported to senior boards and stakeholders. With your strong leadership and data expertise, you’ll help shape strategy, support your team’s development, and build trusted relationships that influence the Trust’s direction.
