Main duties of the job
The Specialty Business Manager is responsible for the Theatre & Anaesthetic pathways within the speciality ensuring that all operational tasks are undertaken to deliver the Theatre Floor Plan and activity is monitored, tracked and delivered. Working knowledge and understanding of an Acute NHS Setting is essential and knowledge of Theatres and Anaesthetics would be desired.
Leadership and management will be a key objective in the efficient and effective running of Theatres, Anaesthetics and Pre op.
You will work in line with the Trust’s corporate objectives and will be expected to make a positive contribution to the provision of health services.
You will be experienced in communicating with clinical/administration staff of all levels and will be expected to work in line with the Trust values and behave in a manner that facilitates the development of autonomous teams and individuals that are empowered, engaged and committed to continually delivering excellent care with compassion.
To provide effective line management and to effectively manage the budgets within the business unit.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To lead and manage the Theatres, Anaesthetics and Pre op Speciality Business Unit (SBU) ensuring the best use of available resources to provide efficient and effective delivery of all services in line with best practice, quality standards and performance targets.
Work closely with clinical and operational colleagues to ensure efficient and effective management of services.
To develop a culture that encourages the use of initiative, individual and team responsibility and open communications.
To provide effective line management.
To effectively manage the Specialty Business Unit’s budget and finance.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- Diploma in NHS Management, or equivalent operational experience
- Appropriate professional management qualification, or working towards achievement
- Participation in continuing professional development to improve and update specialist knowledge
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of operational management in NHS
- Experience of working withinTrust services and managing performance targets/KPIs
- Experience of managing a budget
- Experience of successful project management.
Desirable criteria
- Experience and understanding of Specialist Rehabilitation Services
- Quality Standard Management experience
