  • Assist with regular outpatient clinics under the Consultant’s guidance.
  • Undertake administrative duties including the dictation of discharge summaries, operating notes, outpatient clinic letters and other relevant clinical correspondence.
  • Perform duties in emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the Consultants.

Working for our organisation

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is a major acute trust in the North West. We were established in 2005 and were the first trust in the country to be awarded ‘teaching hospitals’ status. In 2013 we became the regional vascular centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria. General surgical services are currently delivered by a unified department across the Royal Preston and Chorley and South Ribble Hospital sites.

Emergency surgical patients are admitted to the Royal Preston Hospital. Outpatient clinics, day surgery and basic endoscopic procedures are carried out on both sites. The post-holder will be expected to work at both sites (Chorley and Preston) on a rotational basis.
