Job overview
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has created a Programme Management Office (PMO) which is designed to support the organisation to deliver its most complex programmes and projects in an effective and timely manner. The trust has significant challenges in meeting its financial obligations and this role will play a key role in supporting the delivery of this.
Main duties of the job
The Senior Programme Manager will support the Head of Programme Management Office in the delivery of major organisational programmes, including the Financial Recovery Programme (FRP) and the Single Improvement Plan (SIP). The post holder will work with the executive team, senior clinical and operational colleagues and corporate teams to ensure the effective implementation and monitoring of these programmes with a focus on clinical and operational excellence in a way that maximises the engagement of individuals and clinical teams across the Trust.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- Masters Degree in relevant subject or relevant experience
- Further training for e.g. PRINCE2 / Managing Successful Programmes / AGILE or significant experience in project management, financial and budgetary management or supporting change management processes.
Desirable criteria
- Academic or vocational development relevant to Leadership & Organisational / Business Development
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant management experience at a senior level, ideally within a healthcare setting
- Experience of leading programmes and large scale change
- Experience of planning and implementing long- term strategy
- Experience of managing a large budget.
- Knowledge and understanding of the NHS and key policy areas across health and social care
Desirable criteria
- The ability to demonstrate experience of working at a senior level in Shaping service change, managing performance & dealing with teams through change processes
- Experience in Acute Hospital
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Proven ability to manage change, service activity and development within a large and complex organisation
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to make decisions from results of analysis
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams
