We have an a opportunity  for Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our busy Urgent Treatment Centre within the  Emergency Department  at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan.

The posts are advertised as an internal rotation over seven days, offering applicants the chance to develop their skills, talents, and competencies across key acute emergency areas. This role is 28 hours per week and fixed term until January 2027. 

We would be delighted to receive interest from experienced nurses, and from final year nursing students approaching qualification. As a new started you are supported by our ED  Clinical Educator who will  assist your Induction,  training and development .  If you are attracted to a fast paced, energetic nursing role at the heart of our hospital – please submit your application

NHS Employees are required to secure their manager’s agreement for a secondment arrangement prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis as it has been established to provide secondment cover and will end in January 2027 or when the substantive post holder returns. Whilst this post is advertised on an acting / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.

Main duties of the job

Working with us would give you the opportunity to develop skills in resus, majors, triage, Initial Senior and Treatment and rotation into the Urgent Treatment Centre to work alongside our Emergency Nurse Practitioners.  We are excited to be able to offer newly appointed staff an Emergency Care Preceptorship under the guidance of our Clinical Educator.  

We work closely with the ambulance service and specialist teams both within the hospital and in the community to ensure that we provide the right care, at the right time.
