We are looking to recruit Senior Healthcare Support Workers for Winstanley Ward.
1 x 30hrs 1 x 23hrs permanent posts available.
The successful candidates will be efficient, reliable and be able to work using their own initiative whilst being part of a team.
You will be a motivated and confident healthcare support worker dedicated to assisting in the delivery and the development of an excellent service.
Senior Healthcare Support workers are responsible for providing a range of personal care for patents and performing a range of clinical duties under the guidance of a registered healthcare professional
As a Senior Healthcare Worker you make a valuable and important contribution to the delivery of high quality healthcare in the Trust. Your role is to support the registered professional in the delivery of safe, effective, compassionate care to patients and their relatives.
PLEASE NOTE - Candidates are required to have NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social care or the Care Certificate to be eligible to apply for this role. Original certificates for qualification are required to be presented at interview stage.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Duties of a Healthcare Support Worker
We know that no two days are the same and it’s hard to fit everything on one page, however, the following are an example of the duties our Healthcare Support Workers do every day in their role.
- Assist patients with the provision of washing, dressing, personal care, beverages and/or meals.
- Assist qualified nursing and medical staff where requested
- Communicate with all members of the team to maintain a good service provision.
- Ensure that all patients are able to meet their hygiene needs, providing a level of assistance appropriate to the individual.
- Prepare and support the patient appropriately during any activity that is to be undertaken.
- Alert the registered nurse where you notice any changes in the patient’s health and well-being or any possible risks.
- Undertake observations/tasks such as patient temperature, weighing, fluid checks as directed
- Ensure effective use of material resources/supplies within the ward/unit in consultation with senior staff.
- Assist with the general cleaning and re-stocking of resources where appropriate as well as cleaning and preparing patients beds.
- Contribute to own personal development and take an active part in learning opportunities.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Effective level of numeracy and literacy skills
- NVQ 2 Health and Social Care or Care Certificate
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or willing to undertake an apprenticeship in Senior Heathcare Support Worker
- Evidence of Ongoing CPD
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven ability to remain calm under pressure
- Proven ability to demonstrate compassion/empathy/help others
- Demonstrable ability to follow instructions
