Job overview
Aspull ward is a busy, 28 bedded Trauma and Orthopaedic unit. We are looking to recruit 2 part time Health Care Assistants. If you are a dynamic individual with a passion for providing high quality care to our patients please apply for these part time posts.
We are recruiting to 1 x 36 hour and 1 x 24 hour per week posts, working a shift pattern across 7 days Monday - Sunday, including days and nights.
Under current Home Office rules, this role is not eligible for employer sponsorship; applicants must have their own ongoing right to work in the UK to be appointed.

Main duties of the job
The Healthcare Assistant will work as part of the ward team with supervision of registered practitioners to provide effective, safe patient focused care at all times.
Contribute to the development of the care environment with a positive, professional attitude.
Contribute to the maintenance of daily provision of service and care to meet the individual needs of patients and department.
To support the smooth running of the ward and ensure patients, relatives and carers are dealt with in a friendly and efficient manner.
You will ensure that policies and guidelines are adhered to.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As a health care assistant you play a vital role in delivering high standards of care to our patients on Aspull ward
Aspull ward is a busy Trauma and Orthopaedic ward, you will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure all patients are cared for and treated with dignity and respect. Your duties will be varied, and include, assisting patient with personal hygiene, assisting patients during meal times, talking and listening to patients and working in partnership with patients, carers and the wider team.
This is a very demanding and challenging role, you will need to be compassionate and caring and have a passion for this type of work. You will need to demonstrate that you are highly motivated, enthusiastic, well organised and are able to work both independently and as part of a team. Effective communication skills are essential.
- Responsible for providing direct care to the defined group of patients under the direction of the registered nurse.
- Assists patients to undertake normal activities of daily living
- Follows care plans developed by the registered nurse
- Reports any changes in patients condition, untoward incidents or accidents to the senior nurse immediately
- Assists with the maintenance of ward cleanliness
- Assists in maintaining stock levels
- Assists with the transportation of patients, equipment and supplies
