Applications are invited for a position in Emergency Medicine for a 6 month Fixed Term contract. Post holders will be working in our purpose built Emergency Department.

This post will offer you a clinical and education supervisor, a period of 6 weeks introduction to the NHS and our Department at Leicester, designated study days and Junior Trust Grade Teaching Programme specifically designed to equip you with the tools for Emergency Medicine as well as opportunities to attend other established training courses. Previous post holders have successfully gone on to attain training positions in Emergency Medicine, Medicine and General Practice.

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in the UK. The Emergency Department (ED) is based at Leicester Royal Infirmary where we currently see 218,000 patients a year. Our Resus room sees over 12,500 patients a year with complex multi-system pathologies all of which provide an environment to practice challenging but very rewarding Emergency Medicine.

A multi-million pound rebuild of the emergency department was opened in April 2017.

UHL has strategic objectives which include building a world class reputation in research, education and training relevant to the diverse population in Leicester, delivering an excellent patient experience and ensuring UHL is fit for purpose.

Our purpose is to deliver “Caring at its best” for all the people who visit Leicester’s hospitals, either as patients, the public or as staff. Our vision is to move from where we are now to where we want to be, locally known as the journey from ‘Good to Great’.

As part of our team you too can show your commitment to the delivery of high quality services to patients with our Trust values
