Job overview

Grantham CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) Core Team are looking for a colleague to help us in providing an ‘outstanding’ (CQC) specialist mental health service to children, young people and their families.

Are you a creative, passionate and highly motivated individual who can join us in making a difference to children, young people and their families in Lincolnshire who are experiencing mental health challenges? If so, a vacancy has arisen within the Grantham CAMHS hub for a full-time Band 4 Assistant Practitioner to join an established multi-disciplinary team.

You will need to demonstrate confidence in working with young people and their families in group settings as well as on a 1:1 basis building therapeutic relationships; strong IT and organisational skills will also be required.

The team is based in Grantham and occasional travel will be required, our core operating hours are 9.00 a.m.-5.00 p.m.

Main duties of the job

Under the supervision of a Band 6 Registered Professional, support the provision of a comprehensive multi-disciplinary community mental health service for children and young people, including those in vulnerable groups, through the provision of pre-CAMHS support to universal service and targeted interventions using evidence based pathways reflective of a CYP-AIPT approach to care.  

To provide delegated assessments within defined time standards, deliver planned activities and interventions, comply with appropriate legislation and LPFT policies, facilitate feedback from service users and families, work collaboratively with service users, families, colleagues and stakeholders to support the service user and their family/carer, record accurate and appropriate information within the service user’s clinical notes using the Trust’s clinical information systems, actively contribute to meeting productivity targets and comply with CQC standards.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Provide a range of structured therapeutic interventions and clinical monitoring in accordance with   National guidelines and best-practice within the wider community, working in group or on a one to one basis. 

Act as a key worker to service users accepted into the service and identified to be of low to moderate complexity, under the supervision of a Registered Professional. 

Provide support and advice and liaise/engage with partnership agencies, multi-disciplinary teams and the wider community where appropriate. 

Act as co-facilitator for the groups programme.

Contribute positively to the achievement of service targets and outcomes. 

Use techniques derived from one or more therapeutic models to engage and optimise service user treatment outcomes and to support their long-term care plan. 

When indicated refer or signpost on to a range of other specialist and third sector services 

Work closely with, support and provide information to service user families/carers, and wider community services that support the service-user care-pathway. 

Comply with and carry out safe practice in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, appropriate Codes of Conduct, the Mental Health Act (1983) and other relevant national and local guidance.

Participate in the provision of an extended hour’s service.

Work flexibly across the county to support service need.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent in Health and Social care.
  • Assistant Practitioner qualification or willingness/commitment to work towards.
Desirable criteria
  • Training in delivering group work

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with people with mental health conditions
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience as a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner
  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • Experience facilitating group therapy sessions

Skills

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
