Specialty Doctor in ENT

Specialty Doctor

Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Specialty Doctor colleague dedicated to providing high quality patient care. The post is fixed term for 12 months to support the established SAS team in order to provide a comprehensive Consultant served Otorhinolaryngology service at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Foundation Trust and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities will be towards managing the local general ENT workload across the Trust, which provides services over three sites: Scunthorpe General Hospital (SGH), Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital (DPoW) in Grimsby and Goole District Hospital (GDH). All the outpatient clinics have microscope and flexible endoscopes and a range of imaging systems.  The Otorhinolaryngological theatres are equipped with imaging, recording and monitoring for a wide range of procedures.

Working for our organisation

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.

As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Whilst the Specialty Doctor post will be based at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, the post holders may be required to travel from base to outreach clinics and other sites within the Trust.  Sufficient travel and expenses will be allocated to support this.  It will be essential for the post-holder to hold a full UK driving licence and be able to drive between sites.

This post is for a good team player dedicated to high quality patient care. The opportunity exists to work in a non-hierarchical setting and offer a wide range of procedures in this busy Trust. The post holder would be expected to perform general otorhinolaryngological duties with a complimentary special interest.

The postholder will be expected to deliver clinical activity for adult and paediatric patients in the Outpatient and elective/emergency theatre setting.
