Specialty Doctor in Urology

Specialty Doctor

Job overview

The Department of Urology is expanding and re-organising to meet the changing regional and local requirement to provide sub specialisms and flexible local services. The new posts are partly in response to retirement and partly to allow the capacity to adequately train our existing Middle Grades. With the appointment of appropriate new members an on-call middle tier will be established to give emergency experience. New methods of working will allow for each member to gain experience according to their needs. We have historically supported all members to gain the MSc or FRCS in Urology.

The Urology department on the south bank comprises of 3 sites Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole District Hospital. Elective, outpatients and diagnostic services are caried out on all 3 sites with emergency patients centralised at SGH. The applicant, therefore, must be prepared to become part of a multi-team based team at one site moving to other sites for the purposes of training and service need.

Main duties of the job

The post would suite a good team player dedicated to high quality patient care. The opportunity exists to work in a non-hierarchical setting and offer a wide range of Urology procedures in this busy DGH

The post holder would also offer a supporting role as an assistant at the Cancer Centre for Southbank patients allowing exposure to major open & laparoscopic surgery.

Working for our organisation

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.

As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
