We are seeking an experienced CAMHS Practitioner to join our busy and dynamic CAMHS team in Barking and Dagenham. This post has been created following a recent consultation as the service moves to a new i-THRIVE informed model of delivery. We have a growing and supportive team and are looking for an experienced CAMHS practitioner who is passionate about young people’s mental health and well-being to join us in the delivery of high quality and effective CAMHS interventions.

The post-holder will be a graduate qualified health care professional (e.g. nurse, social worker, occupational therapist, clinical associate’s in psychology), or will have substantial CAMHS clinical experience, and where appropriate will be fully registered with the appropriate professional or regulatory body (e.g. HCPC, NMC). They will have extensive clinical experience working with children and young people with emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties

To routinely measure clinical outcomes and deliver evidence-based clinical interventions, both in-line with the CYP-IAPT programme within BD CAMHS. 

The post holder will support their peers and be an effective team member whilst working on their own initiative. They will line manage and clinically supervise BDCAMHS Mental Health Workers and trainees in placement. They will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals and agencies.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15%of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum payment of £5,941 - per annum, pro rata for part time).

•        The post holder will be responsible for delivering clinical interventions within individual care pathways and keeping close involvement with CYP admitted as inpatient. You will be receiving clinical supervision from the Care Pathway Lead or a senior psychological practitioner within BDCAMHS.  

•        Promoting the mental and emotional health of children, young people, and families in the community through clinical interventions in the care pathway/crisis team/SPA. 

•        To improve the knowledge and understanding of emotional and mental wellbeing services among school staff where appropriate 

•        To undertake initial school based and community-based assessments and to deliver a range of early interventions to children and young people with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties where appropriate. 

•        To prevent more serious mental health problems in children and young people by early identification of the development of mental health problems in children and young people 

•        Providing a direct service to children and young people and their families, in an accessible and less stigmatizing environment, based on the best available research evidence, within clinical governance.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a graduate training (e.g. nursing, social work, occupational therapy, Clinical associate in psychology, CBT Therapist, Systemic Family Therapist with substantial CAMHS clinical experience
  • Further professional knowledge gained through accredited training programmes (e.g. CYP- IAPT CBT, CYP- IAPT SFP,CYP-IAPT ASD/LD, CYP-IAPT,CYP-IAPT IPT-A
  • To be eligible for registration as a full member of the appropriate professional body (e.g. HCPC, NMC) where appropriate

Experience

  • Experience of working with children/young people requiring skilled and complex interventions
  • Experience of working with children and adolescents with co- morbid difficulties and special needs. (i.e. combination of organic and emotional deficits, such as autistic spectrum disorders and trauma
  • Experience of working therapeutically with parents/carers/familie s of children and young people with complex mental health problems
  • Experience of carrying out generic assessment with other colleagues in the multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of assessment carried out autonomously in order to determine the most appropriate treatment plan from a range of options for the child/young person
  • Experience of providing individual interventions with a wide variety of children and young people, from 3 to 18 years old- presenting problems at the most severe end of the spectrum
  • Experience of initiating, organising, and planning interagency meetings aimed at setting in place a treatment package tailored to the individual needs of a child/young person
  • Experience of providing clinical interventions different cultural contexts

Knowledge

  • An awareness of NHS priorities
  • level knowledge of the theory and practice of short term and long term in clinical interventions in CAMHS
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to children and adolescents and safeguarding procedures and policies
  • Knowledge of NHS, Social Care and Education structures, national policies and frameworks, evidence based practice including NICE guidelines
  • Knowledge of risk management and ability to monitor and assess risk and act accordingly to ensure safety

Skills

  • Ability to tolerate anxiety without recourse to premature action whilst appreciating the role of the supervisor
  • Capacity to work alone, involving colleagues and manger as relevant
  • Capacity to write clear records and observe policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Ability to use outcome monitoring across all clinical work
