Our current Van Drivers are seeking company to join them on their daily rounds when collecting and/or delivering furniture and to support staff and volunteers working in the shops. This role is crucial to ensuring the donated items we receive end up in our shops in one piece.
Main duties of the job
- Assist the driver with the loading and unloading goods and other household items.
- Communicate effectively with customers when collecting and delivering goods.
- Communicate with staff and volunteers at the hospice and shops about deliveries and collections.
- Assist with repairs and renewals to Hospice shops.
- Help maintain vehicles and assist with general repairs to Hospice shops.
- Some weekend and bank holiday working may also be required.
We are seeking an empathetic individual with excellent people skills, a team player who is flexible, adaptable, who has a can-do approach to your work, an excellent timekeeper, with the ability to support our retail shops in delivering excellent customer service.
You will need to be able to undertake a physically demanding role and as you will be lifting and shifting large amounts of furniture and stock between our shops and the van. Having a full driving licence would be ideal as you may need to provide cover as a Van Driver from time to time.

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
