Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join Therapy Services in the post of Surgical Appliance Assistant/ Administrator. This post is based at Barnet and Chase Farm hospitals, with occasional cross cover at Royal Free Hospital. We are seeking to appoint a dynamic individual to work within our busy service. Applicants should be able to demonstrate evidence of their organisational skills, be a committed team player with the ability to prioritise their own workload, and to work independently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
This role is 30 hours a week and will be cross site between Barnet and Chase Farm Hospital
Main duties of the job
· To assist the Orthotic manager in the delivery of the Surgical appliances service to patients.
· To provide administrative support for the Surgical appliance department.
· To ensure a high quality, friendly and efficient frontline service to patients and staff, contributing to regular needs analysis, service review and effective management of patient complaints and queries.
· To be responsible for the provision and fitting of prescribed Orthoses under the guidance of the Orthotic manager. After appropriate training and competency attainment the post holder will be required to work without direct supervision.
· To provide prescribed orthotics to patients who have been previously
assessed by any Allied Health Professionals, Medical or Senior nursing
team, Orthotic manager, Orthotist.
· To provide alternative or repeat orthoses without the direct supervision
but under the direction of the relevantly qualified Orthotic manager or
Orthotist.
· To document and report back the orthotic provided and the patient’s response to this in the relevant records in line with national and local standards. · To undertake routine maintenance checks of clinical areas and equipment within designated clinical areas.
