Job overview
This post is for two full time Consultant Anaesthetists to work on the Barnet,
Chase Farm sites. This post covers theatres with a mixture of fixed and flexible
sessions.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide anaesthetic cover in
various areas. Areas include emergency, trauma and labour ward cover as well
as cover for elective theatre lists. The current specialties include Obstetrics &
Gynaecology, Urology, General Surgery, Maxillo-Facial, ENT and
Orthopaedics.
2 PA Weekend elective lists and weekday activity as per job plan. No oncall commitments
An option for an 11th PA
may be offered during job planning depending on service requirements,
however, this is not required to undertake. A job planning review will take place
within the first three months.

An opportunity has arisen due to retirement and expansion of services for two Consultant Anaesthetists to join the team at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals. The role involves delivering adult and paediatric general anaesthesia at Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals
The successful candidate will have a CCT in Anaesthesia
Barnet Hospital is an acute hospital with all emergency services including ENT, Gen surgery, trauma , orthopaedics, Max Fax , paediatrics , obstetrics, gynae and urology. There are seven operating theatres , interventional cardiology suite and two intensive care units. Chase Farm is an elective hub with eight operating theatres covering all elective specialties.

- Full GMC registration with a license to practice
- MB BS or equivalent
- On GMC Specialist Register via CCT in Anaesthesia (proposed CCT date must be within six months of interview
- FRCA or equivalent

- *Outstanding research record
Experience
Essential criteria
- Training and education of undergraduate and postgraduate students including an understanding of recent changes in the training of Anaesthetic Doctors
- Training in Anaesthesia at stage 3 level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Possession of ATLS
- Possession of ALS/EPLS/APLS certificates.
- Instructor ALS/ EPLS/APLS certificates
- Course in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching.
- Training the Trainers course.
