Job overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Cardiac Rehabilitation  Exercise Practitioner to provide exercise prescription for cardiovascular endurance, exercise and resistance training, within a cardiac rehabilitation setting.

We are seeking an enthusiastic band 5 instructor, who is flexible, confident, and able to work independently within a multi-professional team.

This post is part time, 15 hours a week, working Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Main duties of the job

The key aspects of the post include delivery and evaluation of a comprehensive Cardiac Rehabilitation service across our sites and working together with all members of the multidisciplinary Cardiac Rehabilitation team. This post will involve patient assessment; education and training; exercise prescription, promotion of evidence based practice and collecting and evaluating audit data.

Successful applicants will need to have experience delivering fitness programmes to specialist populations and have completed relevant specialist training including the BACPR Specialist Exercise Instructor Level 4 Cardiac Qualification. You will have experience of health promotion, be patient focused, supportive and empathetic and also able to motivate and encourage your client group.

  • Experience of cardiovascular assessment regarding suitability to exercise

Knowledge and Skills

  • BACPR Level 4 Qualification
  • Knowledge of common cardiac conditions
  • Knowledge of ways to deliver programs ie home, seated
  • Able to communicate with a range of people ie colleagues and patients
  • Able to motivate and engage patients
  • Understand risk management in the cardiac rehabilitation setting
  • Respectful of culture and beliefs
  • Evidence of CPD
