Job overview
The Coronary Care Unit and Rowan Cardiology Ward at Barnet Hospital have vacancies for enthusiastic and dynamic Band 5 nurses who would like the opportunity to specialise in Cardiac Nursing.
CCU and Rowan Ward are co-located on Level 0, with the Cardiac Catheter Lab also on the same floor.
The successful candidates will be able to enrich their experience in all areas as the departments work closely together and internal rotation is promoted.
Main duties of the job
Our Coronary Care Unit is an 8 bedded unit specialising in acute care of cardiac patients, Rowan is a 24 bedded dedicated cardiology ward.
Staff will, ideally, have 6 months post registration experience, excellent communication skills and work well as part of a team.
Successful candidates will enjoy full training and support from our experienced staff, all you need is a desire to learn, enthusiasm and a commitment to provide an excellent care for our patients.

- Post registration experience working in an acute hospital setting
- Awareness of current professional nursing issues
- Demonstrates sound knowledge of infection control standards
- Evidence of experience conducting quality audits
- Experience supervising student nurses on placement
Skills and aptitudes

- Ability to plan and prioritise workload
- Proven communication skills and ability to negotiate
- Ability to supervise registered and unregistered staff
- Ability to work well within a team
- Knowledge of clinical governance issues e.g. handling complaints, clinical risk management
