Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and enthusiastic clinician to join our well established, innovative team of musculoskeletal physiotherapists.
The posts are based at our main Barnet and Chase Farm sites and will include cross site working. Patient care will be a mix of Telehealth and face to face consultations and will involve extended hours and evening work dependent on demand. The successful candidate will have significant postgraduate experience of working with patients with complex conditions; working within a bio-psychosocial approach on a one-to-one basis as well as within a group context. They will share responsibility for supporting junior and less experienced staff working. They will be expected to participate in the teaching and training of more junior staff and other health care professionals as appropriate.
The successful candidate should be enthusiastic and passionate and have the motivation to encourage and facilitate best practice. We are looking for an individual who is an excellent communicator and team player.
Main duties of the job
- To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own professional activities in line with the standards of the Trust, Department, Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- To have overall accountability for the planning and management of own complex and specialist caseload of patients and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
- To utilise advanced clinical reasoning skills and evidence based knowledge to assess patients with highly complex presentations using a bio-psychosocial model and then to implement. physiotherapy management plans as an autonomous practitioner.
- To be able to explore complex and distressing personal histories, in a sensitive and supportive manner.
- To continuously assess, evaluate and modify treatment aims, objectives and desired outcomes in collaboration with the patient, any carers, and the multidisciplinary team.
- To use highly advanced communication and behaviour change skills to facilitate a long-term self-management approach with patients living with acute and/or chronic musculoskeletal conditions and pain.
- To use cognitive behavioural principles to increase a patient’s functional capacity incorporating, as appropriate but not exclusive to, education, goal setting, exercise, relaxation techniques and activity management.
