An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic Dermatology team at Beckenham Beacon and provide exceptional care to patients with various skin conditions. We’re seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to work in our fast-paced department.

Following a period of induction and training, you will support patients throughout their journey with us, assist our clinicians in the smooth running of outpatient clinics, plan and deliver nurse-led therapies, and help with surgical procedures.

Main duties of the job

  • Working as part of the Dermatology team to assist in the smooth daily running of the department.
  • Leading nurse-led clinics, including Skin Surgery, Light Therapy, Photodynamic Therapy, Wound Care, and Iontophoresis.
  • Educating patients about their dermatology conditions.
  • Performing scrub nurse duties, assisting with skin surgery.
  • Supporting consultant-, doctor-, and nurse-led clinics.
  • Ensuring patients, carers, and visitors are supported throughout their visit to Dermatology.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans.
  • Working closely with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Providing education to patients, carers, and staff.
  • Promoting healthy lifestyle changes.
  • Assisting with audits and establishing new protocols/care pathways to ensure high-quality, safe care.
  • Completing accurate documentation, both written and electronic.
  • Preparing and coordinating clinics to run safely and efficiently, including housekeeping duties and stock control management.
  • Administering phototherapy to patients.
  • Assisting with minor surgical procedures.
  • Providing wound care and topical treatments.
  • Mentoring new staff and students.
  • Engaging in research and providing evidence-based care.
  • Maintaining CPD and NMC revalidation requirements.

  • Registered Nurse (RN1) with active NMC registration at time of starting appointment
