Job overview

This is a busy, clinical role with a number of different components, and high administrative and clinical demands. You will be working as a part of a friendly, creative, welcoming and social team consisting of Step 2 clinicians, High Intensity Therapists and administration staff.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be conducting telephone triage assessments, facilitating online interventions through the Silvercloud program as well as have the opportunity to engage in other projects such as service promotion, GP liaison, auditing, screening or our Asylum Seeker project. The post holder may also be required to co-facilitate workshops based on the CBT principles as well as support the administrative team with some of their tasks.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To complete telephone triage assessments of referrals and self-referrals
To assess and support people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery.
Undertake patient-centred interviews, which identify areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and makes an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.
Undertake administrative tasks including talking over the phone and data entry.
To offer support to the administrative team as required.
Complete all requirements relating to data collection and clinical record keeping within the service.
Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department’s referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary. 
Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 2:1 (Hons) in Psychology
Desirable criteria
  • Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
  • Postgraduate training relevant to mental health

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of awareness/understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems
  • Awareness of racial and diversity issues
Desirable criteria
  • Paid experience in a service providing psychological therapies

Skills & abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to effective team functioning.
  • Ability to use supervision, and participate in required training and development.
  • Demonstrates ability to meet agreed/specified clinical activity, outcome & service targets.
  • Ability to use outcome measures for both clinical and audit purposes.
  • Skills to work independently on a project
Desirable criteria
  • Fluent in a community language other than English.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Paid or unpaid experience with a mental health population
  • Experience of forming therapeutic relationships
  • Telephone working experience
