Job overview
Cauldwell Medical Centre is looking to recruit a Patient Coordinator on a one-year fixed term basis to their team. The Patient Coordinator will provide an effective ‘meet and greet’ service to patients and other visitors to the practice, they will handle calls and maintain the appointment system. They will also provide a care navigation function, using signposting and information to help patients and their carers move through the health and social care system.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be working a busy and often pressurised environment; they will therefore need to highly organised and be able to work well under pressure. The Patient Coordinator will attend to patients and other visitors with kindness, empathy and professionalism, so excellent customer services skills are required for this role. The Patient Coordinator will also ensure patient information is processed sensitively and accurately at all times so ability to pay attention to detail is essential for this role.
Working for our organisation
The post holder will be part of the newly established General Practice Support Unit (GPSU). The GPSU encompasses all of the functions of primary care that support the interaction between patients and health care professionals and ensure we can deliver excellent care to our patients. It is an administrative function that supports our GP surgeries in Bedfordshire. The GPSU currently provides support to the Cauldwell Medical Centre and the two Leighton Road Surgery practices; it is based at one of the Leighton Road Surgery sites in Leighton Buzzard. The post holder will therefore have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work flexibly with other members of the GPSU and staff at Cauldwell Medical Centre.

Please note
Due to the opening hours of the GPSU and associated General Practices team members will be required to work an evening and a Saturday morning on a rota.
The GPSU is based at Leighton Buzzard so Patient Coordinators should be able to (when required) travel to the GPSU. Therefore a driving licence and access to car will be essential. Travel expenses will be paid where this is required.

Essential criteria
- General standard of education, minimum 3 GCSEs – grades C or above, or equivalent
- NVQ Level 3 in relevant subject area, or equivalent

- Evidence of commitment to on-going personal and professional development

Experience

- Significant experience of dealing with the general public and experience of office administration
