Job overview

We are looking for an ambitious, dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Nurse who is a qualified Specialist Practitioner in District Nursing to join our Community Nursing team in North Bedfordshire. This dynamic team delivers responsive, high quality nursing to patients in their own homes. We are passionate about patient centred care, support our nurses to lead and deliver excellent and compassionate nursing and value our clinical teams as the real heart of the NHS. You will be involved in Urgent Care Response and Virtual Wards, which are a focus for our community teams. You will take pride in your work and be highly motivated and dynamic, have a flexible approach and be able to embrace change. Being a collaborative worker and the ability to network and build relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders is essential.

Main duties of the job

The Community Nursing Service operates between 08.00 to 21.00 hours and the successful candidate will work a variety of shifts, including weekends, evenings and bank holidays.

Access to a car in order to carry out service duties is essential.

You will have the support and mentorship of the Team Lead to develop into this role and be encouraged to complete the SPQDN if not already a qualified DN.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • holds specialist practitioner qualification in District Nursing
  • has experience of managing a caseload

Education/ Qualification/ Training

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate evidence-based practice and upto-date clinical skills
  • Evidence of significant post registration nursing experience including community setting.
  • Post-registration qualification in a relevant clinical field
  • Relevant teaching/mentorship qualification and evidence of teaching skills.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of and commitment to multiprofessional working

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Literate in IT/Computer Skills
  • Good oral communication skills based on fluency on the English language

Other

Essential criteria
  • Current driving licence
  • Ability to travel across sites and across Bedfordshire to meet patient needs and attend meetings, etc.
