Job overview

This is a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. 

This role offers an opportunity to be part of a dynamic, evolving Talking Therapies service. The post holder will contribute to the development of the low intensity clinical service provision within Bedfordshire Talking Therapies. The role represents an opportunity for experienced Low Intensity workers who are committed to this model to move to develop their careers and gain clinical and line management experience. 

The post-holder will be required to hold a qualification (Post grad dip/cert) in Low intensity CBT with relevant registration with BABCP or BPS.

 Given the line management and supervision components to the post, the post holder will be expected to have at least 1 years post qualification experience, are enthusiastic and are excited by the development of low intensity services.  They will be excited to share their interest and passion, and to develop these qualities and skills in others.

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with adults with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and may be called upon to work in various community settings (including GP surgeries and other, 3rd sector, settings) and psychological treatment centres.

The post holder will line manage and case manage IAPT Low intensity workers, as well as facilitating clinical skills supervision and working on a project, under the direction of the Step 2 Team Lead. 

 The post holder will be expected to attend a minimum of one day a week in one of our bases - Gilbert Hitchcock House (Bedford) or Whichello’s Wharf (Leighton Buzzard).  The rest of the working week will be completed working from home.  You will also be expected to work one late per week (service opening hours are Monday and Thursday 9am to 8am, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9am to 5pm)

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The main responsibilities of a Senior PWP are: 

  • To hold a small case load of Guided-Self Help patients and assessments
  • To provide case management supervision to qualified and training PWPs
  • To facilitate clinical skills supervision to qualified or training PWPs
  • To have line management responsibilities to qualified or training PWPs
  • To work on a project alongside the Step 2 Team Lead
  • To support the Step 2 Team

Essential criteria
  • Talking Therapies Low Intensity Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Qualification
  • BABCP/BPS PWP Registration
Desirable criteria
  • PWP Supervision Training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • At least one year post qualification experience working as a PWP within a Talking Therapies service
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in offering case management or clinical skills supervision to PWPs or Trainee PWPs

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work within a team and foster good working relationships
  • Local knowledge of Bedfordshire
