Job overview

This post holder will provide a specialist service within Community Eating Disorders Service, CAMHS to young people and their families. This is a community-based post, located within the countywide

Community Eating Disorders Service (CEDS) Bedfordshire and Luton CAMHS offering face-to-face assessments (urgent and routine) in clinic or within the acute hospital setting, telephone triage, and episodes of treatment and risk management of all eating disorder presentations and co-morbidities.

Main duties of the job

·           To provide care to children and families affected by eating disorders, as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

·           To provide effective leadership, expertise, advice and support to the service and ensure the provision of high quality care to children and families

·           To act as a role model and highly competent practitioner

·           To act as a designated resource to children and families, and other professionals caring for them

·           To facilitate the development of the eating disorders service, as part of a multidisciplinary team

·           To promote an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence based practice

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A qualification in Nursing (mental health)
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working with presentation of an eating disorder

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of specialist assessment and treatment with children, young people and their families presenting high levels of complexity and difficulty, specifically including those with eating disorders.
  • Experience of providing evidence based interventions for children and young people with eating disorders, disordered eating behaviour and associated co-morbidities.
  • Proven capacity in working in multi-disciplinary, multi-agency, multi-cultural context with varying theoretical perspectives.
  • Experience of providing line management and clinical supervision
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in CAMHS
  • Experience of working with a wide range of CAMHS problems

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of well developed clinical skills and knowledge in CAMHS
  • Specialist clinical assessment and treatment skills including emergency and crisis assessments.
  • Able to manage own time and caseload
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • A high degree of self-awareness and an ability to reflect on personal and professional attitudes and accept feedback
  • Awareness of current national guidelines and policies in the field of CAMHS
  • Specific knowledge of pertinent issues for CAMHS
  • In depth knowledge of CAMHS issues including assessment and interventions
