We are looking for experienced Band 8a Uro-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist ready to take on a new challenge of an autonomous expert practitioner in a role of a Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) post. You will be joining an expert cancer multi – professional team and supported by clear development plan. You will be responsible for offering expert clinical advice, emotional support and managing own caseload of cancer patients.
You will be championing and delivering NHSE cancer personalised care standards and ensuring issues associated with patients experience are visible to the MDM and are top quality priority for service improvement.
Please note that the position site at Beckenham Beacon Hospital will requires cross cover for Denmark Hill during annual leave and sickness cover.
Main duties of the job
The post is a result of collaborative cancer patients improvement programme aimed to provide people with cancer with an excellent experience of care and commitment to support cancer care as the trust top quality priorities.
The post holder will play a key role in developing nursing expertise in uro-oncology to improve experience of the local population with prostate, bladder, testicular and renal cancer.
- To further develop the uro-oncology service (including optimising patient pathways, improving the patient experience, developing proactive support models for patients).
- To establish a designated support group for uro-oncology patients
- To independently manage a caseload of patients/clients
- To ensure that patients and their families are fully informed and supported by providing clinical and social support
- To lead the development of evidence based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines
- To establish clear lines of communication with primary healthcare teams in order to increase knowledge and facilitate the care of this group of people in the community
- To work with the other members of the urology care nursing team, and to provide cross cover when required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To provide and manage an expert specialist nursing service for people with specialist needs
- To provide expert nursing advice and support to patients, their families and other healthcare professionals following diagnosis and through treatment

- Regularly attending MDT meetings and act as patient advocate, and management experience to be able to competently lead your own case load for the Uro Oncology Nurse Led Clinic.
- To accept responsibility as the named key worker, ensuring clear documentation in the patients’ notes and consistency of delivery of ongoing needs assessment

Essential criteria
- Relevant, demonstrable experience in speciality area
- A clinical expert either through formal qualification (Degree/Masters) and/or extensive clinical experience pertinent to the area.
- Advanced Clinical assessment skills
- Non medical prescribing course

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
