Job overview
The Resuscitation Practice Development Nurse/Paramedic will support the Resuscitation Practice Development Manager in delivering high-quality, evidence-based resuscitation training across the Trust, spanning inpatient, community and specialist settings.
The post holder will act as an in-house ILS Tutor, deliver ward-based in-situ training and assessments, and support early recognition of the deteriorating patient. They will provide ad-hoc and specialist training across Trust teams, one-to-one support following ILS/BLS training, and coordinate training activity to maximise compliance.
The role also includes oversight of resuscitation equipment and administrative records, contributing to audit and service improvement, and deputising for the team manager as required. The post holder will maintain their professional registration and keep clinical knowledge up to date.
Main duties of the job
- Deliver ILS training as an in-house Tutor and provide ward-based in-situ training and assessments

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (RGN or dual qualified to include RGN) or Registered Paramedic with current registration with the relevant regulatory body (NMC/HCPC)
- Immediate Life Support (ILS) certification with the Resuscitation Council (UK) OR equivalent
- A recognised teaching qualification, or equivalent demonstrable experience in facilitating learning in a clinical or healthcare setting
- Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to resuscitation and emergency care practice through post-registration training
Desirable criteria
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Immediate Life Support (ILS) Instructor status with the Resuscitation Council (UK)
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) Provider certification with the Resuscitation Council (UK)
- Paediatric Basic Life Support (PBLS) or Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS) certification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post-qualification experience in acute, emergency care environment (e.g. emergency department, emergency ambulance) or intensive care settings
- Experience of delivering resuscitation or clinical skills training to staff in a healthcare setting
- Experience of maintaining accurate training or clinical records in accordance with organisational policies and professional guidelines
- Experience of providing constructive feedback to learners following training assessments or clinical observation
Desirable criteria
- Experience of delivering training to non-clinical or diverse staff groups, adapting content and communication style to meet varying learning needs
- Experience of working within or alongside mental health services or a community healthcare setting
- Experience of participating in audit, quality improvement, or service development within a clinical or training environment
- Experience of planning and organising training activities to maximise training uptake and compliance
Knowledge / Skills / Other
Essential criteria
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to a range of audiences including clinical and non-clinical staff
- Willing and able to travel frequently across Trust sites in order to fulfil the requirements of the role
- Willingness to undertake further qualifications or training relevant to the role, including Instructor level resuscitation courses
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service where required, including outside of regular office hours if needed
Desirable criteria
- Full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes
