The Paediatric Occupational Therapy service offers a high quality service to all eligible children aged from birth to school leaving age who live or attend school in Camden or who are registered with a Camden GP. The post holder will be allocated caseload depending on their experience and the needs of the service. This post is rotational which means that the post holder may need to rotate to a different post when the yearly review of rotations arise.
The post holder will need to demonstrate a high standard of clinical practise and previous experience as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist assessing the needs of complex children with DCD, ASD, developmental delay, physical disability and providing intervention in the classroom as well as working with their carers and acting as a highly skilled occupational therapy advisor in home and school environments.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist that is looking to develop their career in a team that provides a wide range of experience within a highly skilled and supportive team of professionals, that offers various CPD opportunities.
The post involves working with school aged and pre-school children in a variety of settings including special and mainstream schools with a range of needs from mild to complex. Knowledge of the assessment and treatment of children with DCD, ASD and physical difficulties is essential. You will be working alongside a large and experienced team of Paediatric Occupational Therapists and there is scope for rotation within the Child Development Team and Social Care. You will visit schools and be responsible for assessment and intervention planning.

Experience

- Previous experience in paediatric OT in a variety of settings including schools, community and or hospital
- To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Valuing Diversity, cultural practices and how to incorporate the needs of people from different ethnic/cultural communities into OT interventions
- To demonstrate knowledge of assessment skills and an understanding of the application of Occupational Therapy to meet the needs of children with physical/ behavioural disabilities
- Demonstrate the ability to plan intervention for the short-term and longterm effects of disability in accordance with the Borough’s policies and procedures on service delivery and eligibility.
- Demonstrate knowledge of a variety of physical, behavioural, neurological and psychiatric conditions and an understanding of their impact on children and their families/carers. This can include impairments in areas of cognitive, perceptual, biomedical, neurological and sensory impairment, social communication skills
- Demonstrate awareness of the need to work in partnership with clients and their families/ carers.
- Demonstrate knowledge of effective time management and caseload management skills
- Experience of working with a range of children with special needs and relevant Occupational Therapy approaches
- Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a school setting
