Job overview

The busy Ophthalmology department at Epsom and St Helier Trust has an exciting 6 month secondment opportunity for a patient pathway coordinator in paediatric and neuro - ophthalmology. This role is based in the administration pod at St Helier Hospital. 

This role provides high-quality patient care through dedicated administrative and clerical support and strong teamwork. This is an exciting role working with a large team of healthcare professionals and is an excellent next step for someone interested in furthering their career in the NHS.

We are seeking an IT literate administrator with excellent customer service skills and significant experience / knowledge of ophthalmology, whose department is able to release them for an immediate start.

 

Main duties of the job

If you are an experienced IT literate administrator or receptionist with excellent customer service skills and strong ophthalmology knowledge/ experience seeking a fresh challenge in a fast-paced, friendly service, this could be your role.

The post holder will support administrative functions relating to our patients’ care pathways leading a small team of clerical officers; answering telephones; booking new, follow up and diagnostic appointments; monitoring the outpatient waiting list;  liaising with other Trusts and departments; and  scheduling urgent and routine surgery.  The office core hours are between 8 am – 6 pm Monday to Friday.

  • Minimum of grade C Maths and English GCSE / equivalent
  • Evidence of self progression and training
Desirable criteria
  • Higher level education such as A Level or degree

Knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant NHS experience
  • Demonstrates customer service skills
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection principles
  • IT literate
  • Experience and knowledge of ophthalmology pathways
Desirable criteria
  • Cerner or other PAS experience/ IT based role
  • RTT Validation experience
