Job overview

How would you like to be part of a busy team rotating between St Helier and Epsom Hospitals?

The Stores and Distribution team within Pharmacy provides the medicine supply service for three dispensaries, all wards and departments at Epsom and St Helier hospitals and a wide variety of local community clinics.

No previous hospital or pharmacy experience required just a willingness to take on a dynamic and rewarding role suppling medicines to fellow healthcare professionals for use within the Trust and local community

You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and time management skills, basic IT skills and have a good attention to detail. Evidence of previous basic experience of stock control & maintenance, such as stock rotation, ordering and/or receiving stock should be included in your application.

There is a requirement to rotate through the Epsom Pharmacy and participate in the weekend and Bank Holiday rota.

Main duties of the job

To assist with the computerised and physical distribution of pharmaceutical products to all clients and departments, (including internal pharmacy requisitions) ensuring documentation is completed appropriately.

To assist with the organisation and filing of appropriate documentation.

To assist with the ward/departmental topping up system to ensure that appropriate pharmaceutical products are available for use by relevant health care personnel.

To print computerised lists for stock issues to all relevant clients.

To assist with receipt, storage and disposal/return of all pharmaceutical products from wards and departments.

To assist in the maintenance of accurate stock levels in all areas including the completion of daily stock-take sheets.

To participate in the booking in and checking of goods from the suppliers on the Pharmacy Computer System.

To be responsible in liaison with the clerical staff and the Senior Technician for supplier notification and actioning of any necessary follow-up and paperwork associated with delivery shortages, errors, damage and inappropriate expiry dated products.

Working for our organisation

St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).

After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.
