An exciting opportunity has risen for the role of Director of International Relationships and Strategy to join our Private Care Team. The role will be responsible for leading the delivery of the international strategy and the candidate will have a proven track record of successfully building and strengthening external relationships with senior independent healthcare stakeholders within the UK and Internationally.

Responsible for increasing international activity and income to the Trust, the post holder will lead on the overall account management of international services and will lead on performance strategies to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, personalised care, providing better outcomes for patients. The post holder will work closely with world leading consultants and senior members of the Private Care team to identify and drive international market service opportunities whilst increasing brand awareness. This is a full-time position, and candidate will be required to travel frequently within the UK and overseas. The Royal Marsden continually invests in staff to ensure they can develop professionally, with education and training available to all. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead on the delivery of the International Strategy for the Private Care Division and will be responsible for building and strengthening external relationships with senior independent healthcare stakeholders within the UK and Internationally. With responsibility of increasing international activity and income to the Trust, the post holder will lead on the overall account management of International Services.   Increasing global brand awareness; the post holder will present to senior executives and work with key stakeholders to deliver services ensuring they are responsive innovative and provided to the highest possible standard.

  • To support the development of, and promote, the Trust’s mission, values aims and objectives.
  • Lead on the development and delivery of the Private Care Directorate’s International strategy at divisional and Trust level.  
  • In line with the strategy, develop effective strategic relationships with Embassies and other international agencies, with a focus on increasing international referrals and income to the Trust.
  • Ensure good and effective relationships and communication throughout the Division, within the wider Trust, and externally with patients, insurers & embassies, promoting a culture where staff are actively involved in decisions on how services are provided, and targets delivered.
  • The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of key commercial KPIs and targets in relation to the International Strategy that feed into the broader commercial agenda and will therefore monitor progress of delivery against plans throughout the year.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree and/or an appropriate professional qualification or equivalent
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent specialist knowledge acquired by experience
  • Track record of continuous professional and management development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Strategic management experience within large private healthcare sector or NHS
  • Track record of managing client relationships to drive productivity and income.
  • Proven ability to work to strict deadlines, including ensuring that the resources of the team are used efficiently to meet all deadlines.
  • Experience of being a leader managing and delivering clinical services during a period of transformation change.
  • Proven experience analysing and interpreting performance data
  • Evidence of proven experience in delivery of service improvement and strategies
  • Evidence of proven experience of performance leadership through delivery of KPI’s and management of budgets
  • Significant experience of staff leadership and management
  • Evidence of project management and delivery of training programmes

  • Political and media skills

Knowledge
