Job overview

Consultant Community Paediatrician Combined Role : 10 PAs  

1.       Child Development Assessment Clinics –Neurodevelopmental assessment. 

2.       Assessment for children referred under 5 years for diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. 

3.       Leading and coordinating within Multidisciplinary Integrated Service at the Moor Lane Centre – joint assessments/MDT review/Hip surveillance/Special school / development of care pathways/ transitions 

4.       Provide medical advice to the Local SEND according to statutory legislation and guidance for children with special educational needs. 

5.       Provide clinical supervision for junior medical staff based within the Integrated Service.

Main duties of the job

Neurodevelopmental Assessment Clinics

This clinic based work includes face to face and virtual assessments for new and review cases presenting with developmental concerns accepted through our single point of access (ITAC). Assessment to consider possible diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) Movement Disorders and Neuromuscular Disorders and Globally Impaired Developmental Profile.

Work includes assessment and ongoing management of children and young people with complex neuro-developmental needs including movement disorder and Genetic conditions as part of Multidisciplinary Team .

 

Leading Multidisciplinary working

To oversee and manage Multidisciplinary  team – coordinate and plan MDT meetings including Transition and Early Years focus with allied professional teams . Help coordinate Hip surveillance. Carry out Special school  reviews. Lead on development of care pathways including  transitions.

Assessment Autism Spectrum Disorder

The Community Paediatricians play a key role in our ASD assessment pathways.

Following National Guidance for Multidisciplinary assessment working closely with colleagues in speech and language and education.

Educational

Essential criteria
  • • Full GMC Registration with License to Practice (or eligibility to obtain). • MRCPCh or equivalent) • CCT in Paediatrics and on GMC’s Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of the interview or have confirmed eligibility for Specialist Registration. • Associate Specialist Grade with community paediatric experience
  • • Current wide range of Community Paediatrics experience • Training and experience with Safeguarding

Experience in Training, Audit and Research

Essential criteria
  • • Ability to teach and train undergraduates and junior doctors. • Experience of clinical audit/ QI projects. • Relevant research articles in peer-reviewed journals.
