We are looking for a dedicated Podiatry Clinical Support Worker (Band 3) to join our friendly and skilled podiatry service.

As a key member of our team, you’ll be working alongside specialist podiatrists to provide compassionate care to patients across a wide range of settings – from hospitals and health centres to community clinics and even patient homes.

You’ll be hands-on in a variety of clinics including nail surgery, wound care, and diabetic foot assessments, supporting both patients and the wider podiatry team. Every day will bring new challenges and rewarding opportunities to learn and grow.

Main duties of the job

👣 What you will be doing:

  • Assisting podiatrists during procedures such as nail surgery and wound care
  • Providing foot health advice and basic care to patients and carers
  • Supporting nail surgery by carrying out re-dressings and aftercare advice
  • Supporting diabetes care by carrying out foot checks, dressings, and patient education
  • Helping at health promotion events to raise awareness of good foot health
  • Keeping clinics running smoothly through clerical, administrative and stock support
  • Reassuring patients who may feel anxious, in pain, or unsure about treatment
  • Playing a vital role in infection control and patient safety

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. 

Starting with Us

NELFT places great importance on new starters being properly welcomed into the Trust.  All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process, new starters will also have the opportunity to meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend several drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes.  The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum payment of £5,941 - per annum, pro rata for part time)

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Care Level 3 or 4 or above
Desirable criteria
  • Level 4 certificate in foot health education and training standards
  • ACCO
  • Care Certificate
  • Evidence of Continual Development

Experience

  • Able to plan and organise activities
  • Proven experience of working in care setting
  • Substantial evidence of working under delegation of duty

  • Proven experience of working in foot health
  • Evidence of providing health promotion to clients

  • An awareness of NHS priorities
  • Commitment to own development

  • Knowledge of foot problems to ensure immediate referral to a podiatrist as appropriate
